Meet Our Principal...

Paul Bennett, BComm, CPRW (Certified Professional Résumé Writer)

Paul is TARGET's founder.  His extensive working knowledge of business, communications strategy, writing, and careers gives him a broad and deep set of skills with which to design compelling personal marketing materials for his clients.

Paul began his career as a Programmer/Analyst with IBM Canada in Toronto and later moved on to become a Senior Systems Integration Consultant for Andersen Consulting (now known as Accenture) in Ottawa. Subsequently he founded the technical writing department of TELOS Engineering Ltd. in Richmond, BC and then spent a period of time as an independent business, technical and career writing consultant.

Paul has earned the CPRW (Certified Professional Résumé Writer) designation which affirms him as one of the career industry's leading experts in the development of strategic résumés. To achieve certification, writers must pass a three-day examination that thoroughly tests their technical skills and their adherence to the highest standards of professional ethics.  Currently, he is the only accredited CPRW in British Columbia.

An active member of the Career Masters Institute (CMI) and the Professional Association of Résumé Writers and Career Coaches (PARW/CC), Paul participates extensively in the conferences and professional education opportunities provided by these two organizations.

Paul delivers presentations on résumé-writing strategy to corporate and educational audiences.  He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) degree in Marketing from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia, and is a graduate of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and the Yamnuska Mountain Skills and Outdoor Leadership Program.

His work is published in two recent books, Best Canadian Résumés (Sentor Media, 2007)and No-Nonsense Cover Letters (Career Press, 2007).
